So I am new... in fact never owned or really drove a quad. however I got to ride in the what seat for an hour.... made me want to get a quad.

Parents are leasing a lake lot and there are alot of quad trails in the area. so my dad took delivery of a 2010 Polaris touring edition 550 sportsman.

He wants me to get one and I have been looking not sure what to get but it would be in the next month or so. looking for something thats 4x4 and sporty. not a rwd sport quad but not a utility machine either.

also want something that has decent aftermarket support because I never keep anything I own stock. and it has to fit in my truck as well got a 1996 F-150 short box. ext cab 4x4 with 6 inch lift and 35's its my grocery getter.

Welcome to the outlaws!! Pretty much any big bore will give you what you are looking for. For sportyness, stay away from Hondas. Might even want to look at the 500 or 800 renegade. The 500 is good for learning but you will want to up the power not long after you get it.

Take a close look at the Renegade. There's a quad that's the best of both worlds...if cost isn't that much of an issue.

There is a lot more aftermarket stuff for the Rene than the scrambler, and it's a better machine by far IMO.

Hi, Welcome. What size of machine are you looking for. New or used?

With the exception of the Renegade, most "dual" machines aren't the best for both worlds. I wouldn't expect top end sportyness or top end utilty from them. Choices are pretty limted, especially if you want anything with some power to go with it. minus the 800 of course.

As for aftermarket stuff, the scrambler has been around forever. I remember wanting one as a wee little lad lol. So I would think the aftermarket area is well established for them also. The renny is new, and most current, so you just see more stuff IMO.

I wouldn't rule out some large bore ute's either. I'm happy with how my 700 grizz feels and its fun to ride. The brutes have power and the fun factor that comes with having it helps outweigh them being a pure ute, although I dont find them near as fun to drive. Thats a preference though. Just keep in mind that as a new rider, these machines are big and powerful. But there arent to many that will say go smaller lol. You will just want more later :up_to_something:

Good luck in finding something. :thumbsup2:

Welcome....I too would recommend the Renegade...500 or 800 would be a good choice.
