Was out at Bruderheim on the weekend.
Currently Open.
The far staging area is closed, due to ongoing clean up etc of the fire. (should be open soon the RCMP said).

On the note of RCMP, we got pulled over on the trail by the RCMP as they are there to patrol, and will be there all the time, mostly weekends.

What you need to have, Reg, Insurance, and Drivers.
I was written up a warning which could have been a $172 fro not carrying your Drivers with you on your Machine.

RCMP, were very friendly, and had a nice 30 minutes chat with them about the Regs in the Area.

Other things to note, You CAN NOT ride on the HWY, or any of the gravel roads in this area, you can cross directly across them, but can not ride them.
Same goes for Ditches, you can not ride the ditches in this area, Bruderhiem is under Strathacona County bylaws, and this county doesn't allow the use of ATV's.

Bruderhiem itself is Crownland and riding is allowed on this land.

SO be aware of the riding laws out at this area, and you will have a great day of riding.

Thanks for the update Craig - was going out there today - but the weather...
As far as to where to stage... you're saying that we CAN offload in the big sandpit area right along the highway? (I usually goto the far offload site)

From another post at S&M, it appears there are big yellow signs on that rode that leads to the far staging area that indicates you'll be towed if you offload there.

Good point about the drivers license - I usually leave that one behind.

Yes there is a big Sign on the Corner, so you can unload at the big sandpit, or even on that corner where the sign is, that corner is Private property but the current owner doesn't mind as per the RCMP.
Any areas that are now fenced are Private Property, so you can't go there ( which is like the Southwest corner).

Lots still on the other side of the River, I crossed the River water above the tires, but hard rock bottom so all good.

Yeah I wish I had checked this post before hand. I ended up getting a warning for not having my drivers on me and apparently my plate wasn't legiable/clearly visible where it was. Anyways, the RCMP were good about it and I only got 2 warnings but it was the first time I heard about having to have your drivers license on you while quadding.

I got a hoot out of it after one of the RCMP got stuck in a mud hole and nearly flooded his quad. TheDraco pulled him out while his partner was taking video/pics on the cell phone.

Don't know what the laws say for sure but have been told by a few RCMP that anywhere off private land they have the right to issue tickets for riding atv's without a drivers licence.

I have still been trying to find something on this, but so far haven't.
I have been told by the RCMP that a Drivers is required to operation a motorized vechile.
I asked about kids under age using atv's they said that it is illegal for them to operate unless under direct supervision of a Adult or someone holding a Drivers.

The only thing I have found is you need to be 16 with a drivers to get registration for a Atv, so that must cover it there.

Please check the Alberta Traffic Safety Act, Production of documents, 124 (1)(a) the person's subsisting operators licence if the vehicle is being operated on a highway, I gess it is important what is to be considered a "highway", just stay off of RANGE ROAD 205, or any other RR or TWP'S and Hwy"s. or simple, carry your divers licence along with the rest of the docs that are required.
Unless there are some special reasons no one under the age of 18 years of age shall apply to register an offhighway vehicle, "UNLESS" (A,B,C). Section 14, Alberta OHVREG, Minimun Age, 14 (1).

If I am riding in a trail and am stopped to check for insurance and reg by a conservation officer, are you saying I require my drivers license or I may get a ticket? I have never been asked in the past to produce it, but maybe I should start bringing it with me. This makes no sense at all to me since you do not require a license to operate an ATV. What if my friend is driving my quad and he does not have a drivers license?
